Photos of the Day: The New VENOM Trailer Is Here!

Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a reporter who's infected with an alien Symbiote and takes on the bad guys in VENOM.

Just thought I'd end this month with these screenshots from the newest trailer for Venom...which hits theaters nationwide on October 5. Based on the new preview, Tom Hardy's take on the Symbiote is livelier and more brutal than Topher Grace's portrayal of the alien creature in 2007's Spider-Man 3. This is ironic considering the fact that Venom is an all-out villain in Sam Raimi's third and final Spidey flick, while he's an antihero in the upcoming movie. Not sure if Venom will be R-rated, but one thing's for sure, it's gonna be interesting adapting Hardy's gritty take to the PG-13 tone of Tom Holland's Spider-Man films if the Symbiote ever makes an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Check out the trailer itself at the very bottom of this entry. That is all.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Is Set to Begin Filming Next Wednesday! Plus More News About the Skywalker Saga Finale...

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX will hit theaters nationwide on December 20, 2019.

Star Wars: Episode IX Cast Announced (News Release)

Returning and New Cast Members Will Join Together for the Final Installment of the Skywalker Saga

Star Wars: Episode IX will begin filming at London’s Pinewood Studios on August 1, 2018. J.J. Abrams returns to direct the final installment of the Skywalker saga. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio.

Returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Keri Russell, who will be joined by veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, who will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian.

The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher, using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” says Abrams. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

Composer John Williams, who has scored every chapter in the Star Wars saga since 1977’s A New Hope, will return to a galaxy far, far away with Episode IX.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Michelle Rejwan, and executive produced by Callum Greene and Jason McGatlin. The crew includes Dan Mindel (Director of Photography), Rick Carter and Kevin Jenkins (Co-Production Designers), Michael Kaplan (Costume Designer), Neal Scanlan (Creature and Droid FX), Maryann Brandon and Stefan Grube (Editors), Roger Guyett (VFX Supervisor), Tommy Gormley (1st AD), and Victoria Mahoney (2nd Unit Director).

Release is scheduled for December 2019.

"Why. So. SERIOUS?" Remembering THE DARK KNIGHT One Decade Later...

Batman (Christian Bale) surveys the wreckage following the death of Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) in THE DARK KNIGHT.

Today marks 10 years since Christopher Nolan unleashed The Dark Knight onto movie theaters nationwide. Click here to read my review for this game-changing comic book epic! The Dark Knight returns to the standard big screen on August 3 and 4, while it will be shown in four IMAX theaters around the country on August 24 for a one-week engagement. (In regards to where I live, the nearest IMAX screen showing this is at AMC CityWalk theater in North Hollywood.) I plan on watching this masterpiece on both re-release dates! Carry on.

Photos of the Day: The Costumes of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP...

Posing with the Ant-Man, Wasp and Ghost costumes used in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP...on July 8, 2018.

Yesterday, I drove down to ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood to check out the costumes worn by Paul Rudd (as Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (as Wasp) and Hannah John-Kamen (as Ghost) in Ant-Man and the Wasp. This comes less than two months after I last visited the ArcLight to see the costumes worn by Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz and Terry Crews in Deadpool 2. In regards to what I thought about the Ant-Man sequel, here are my quick notes:

- Ant-Man and the Wasp was such a fun and action-packed film! It retained the comedic spirit of the original movie.

- The Ghost kicks ass. She's a lot cooler than Yellowjacket (played by Corey Stoll) in the original film.

- The Wasp versus Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow or Black Panther's Okoye: Who'd win?

- Definitely stay for the mid-credits scene if you wanna see how Ant-Man and the Wasp ties in with Avengers: Infinity War and foreshadows 2019's Avengers 4! In regards to the scene at the very end of the end credits: Eh.

Happy Monday!

CAPTAIN MARVEL Has Wrapped Filming!

Earlier today, Brie Larson tweeted the image above celebrating the completion of principal photography on Captain Marvel...which took place last Friday (July 6) after a 75-day shoot. Last Friday, of course, also marked the opening day for Ant-Man and the Wasp—which is the final Marvel Studios movie of 2018 (though Sony Pictures will be releasing the Marvel antihero flick Venom this October, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in December). March 8, 2019 is the date that Captain Marvel will be unleashed in theaters nationwide, while Avengers 4 is set to follow less than two months later on May 3. Awesome! Can't wait to see how Larson's Carol Danvers will factor in the defeat of Thanos next spring...

And in regards to Ant-Man and the Wasp, I'll post photos that I took of three of its main costumes at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood tomorrow. Carry on.

EDIT (July 9): Pics that I took of the Ant-Man and the Wasp costumes are posted here!
