Photo of the Day: The 'Twin Pines Mall' Sign Gets A Permanent Display!

Just thought I'd end this month by posting this photo I took of the Twin Pines Mall sign as it got a permanent location (that is, when it's not moved out into the parking lot to celebrate a future Back to the Future Day) inside Puente Hills Mall, which portrayed the fictional plaza in the first Back to the Future movie. The sign can be seen in the Macy's annex if you ever visit the shopping center in the City of Industry. Would be cool if a replica of the DeLorean also had a permanent home at this mall, but I'm not greedy. Having this sign is cool enough.

Celebrating 'Back to the Future Day' One Last Time!

The Twin Pines Mall sign from BACK TO THE FUTURE on display at Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry...on October 25, 2015.

A few hours ago, I drove back to the Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry to take part in one last celebration to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Robert Zemeckis' classic sci-fi film. Not only were the DeLorean (actually, there were many DeLoreans present) and Doc Brown's van still on display, but a concert was held by a rock band known as the Flux Capacitors before a screening of the first Back to the Future movie was shown. I would've stayed for the screening if I didn't have to go to work early tomorrow, and there wasn't such a large crowd of people who showed up at Puente Hills Mall tonight! Anyways, here are photos that I took of the festivities this evening...

HAPPY 'BACK TO THE FUTURE' DAY!

Posing with the Twin Pines Mall sign from BACK TO THE FUTURE at Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry...on October 18, 2015.

Just thought I'd share these new photos that I took at Puente Hills Mall as this shopping plaza continues to commemorate 30 years since it portrayed Twin Pines Mall and Lone Pine Mall in the first Back to the Future movie. Even though the DeLorean (the one modified as a time machine, to be exact) is no longer on display inside the mall's first floor lobby, Doc Brown's van and the Twin Pines Mall sign itself are currently exhibited at Puente Hills...where they will remain till October 25 (this Sunday). So if you're a fan of Robert Zemeckis' sci-fi classic, visit the mall now! Especially considering the fact that after this year, the events of Back to the Future Part II, like Roland Emmerich's 2009 disaster flick 2012, will become dated. Oh, and let's not forget Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet was originally supposed to launch nukes across the planet on August 29, 1997—decimating humankind and bringing about the rise of the machines)...but that film is still awesome. Carry on.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS... The Final Theatrical Trailer Is Here!

Kylo Ren is out to complete what Darth Vader started in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

As per tradition on this Blog, I posted lots of screenshots from the latest trailer to this year's most highly-anticipated film (58 days and counting... I now have my ticket for an early 3-D screening on December 17)! So what are two observations I have about this amazing preview for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? First, Kylo Ren looks to be as menacing as his predecessor Darth Vader was in the Original Trilogy. And second, the cool, bluish glow of hyperspace travel is back! You can watch the trailer at the very bottom of this entry and be awed just like I am.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS... The Final Theatrical Movie Poster Has Been Released!

The theatrical movie poster for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

I'd type more for this entry but there's a new theatrical trailer being released tomorrow to discuss as well! Though I'll probably wait for it to be posted online instead of having to watch the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New York Giants on ESPN (the trailer will make its debut during Monday Night Football).

The Martian...

So I saw the new sci-flick today, and must say, it was the second best Ridley Scott film I've seen behind his 2000 Oscar-winning epic Gladiator. It's even a much cooler movie if you're a die-hard NASA geek, but The Martian is worth watching if you want to see Matt Damon do a great job playing stranded astronaut Mark Watney. Speaking of Damon, just thought I'd share this funny meme that I found online. It's so true— For someone who played a genius janitor in 1997's Good Will Hunting, Damon sure likes playing other characters who constantly find themselves getting lost in another country or on another planet. But at least Matt gets to kick ass again in another Bourne film...due out in theaters next year.

From SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and INTERSTELLAR to THE MARTIAN, Matt Damon gets stranded more than Gilligan does in GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.
