THE FORCE AWAKENS: $813 Million and Counting!

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is out to complete what Darth Vader started in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Much props to J.J. Abrams and company for continuing to set box office records with Star Wars: The Force Awakens...which became the first film to cross the $800 million mark in the United States and Canada alone. This weekend saw the seventh live-action film in the science-fantasy franchise continue to solidify its position as the highest-grossing film of all-time domestically (making $42.4 million this weekend for a current tally of $813 million in North America), and the third all-time international grosser as it surpassed Jurassic World with a current worldwide box office take of $1.75 billion. With the movie now showing in China (where it made around $52 million since opening in that country yesterday), it's only a matter of time that Episode VII will reach the $2 billion mark. And one wonders if Disney will try to give The Force Awakens a chance to reach the $1 billion domestic mark by having the film play in U.S. and Canadian theaters for as long as possible. We shall see.

Rey (Daisy Ridley) and BB-8 keep on the lookout for trouble in a Jakku village in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.
